IFF Functional Food Ingredients R&D is looking for a for an innovative, proactive, analytical, result-oriented research scientist to help us build a novel capability centred around extensional rheology and establishing this technology as a routine R&D tool to support future market needs for functional food & beverage ingredients.The focus will be on creating heuristic and causal relationships between rheological material functions and sensory science, oral processing, and swallowing. You will collaborate across functions with experts in application development, physical food science, chemical analysis, IT, and sensory science, as well as with external academic collaborators on a specific R&D project.

Location will be Brabrand, Denmark at IFF’s Innovation center. Directly reporting to our Functional Discovery R&D leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement extensional rheology techniques to advance our understanding of food texture and mouthfeel.Establish heuristic and causal relationships between rheological properties and sensory experiences.Design and conduct experiments, modifying sample environments as needed.Analyse large datasets to correlate rheological data with sensory and oral processing outcomes.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external academic partners to drive project success.Document results in technical reports, technical presentations and create input for new inventions (patent applications).Reviews literature / patents.Technical contributor in a multidisciplinary R&D project.Job Requirements
Qualifications
PhD or Postdoc in Food Science, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, or related disciplines.Experience in advanced rheology.Proficiency in data analysis and data science.An additional advantage to have experience in material science such as polymer, colloid, and interface science.Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.Personal Skills
