Overview We are the concentrate team in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutrition and Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo’s mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up and Pepsi. Responsibilities Primary accountabilities: Concept formulation, application characterization and performance modelling of powder and liquid-based consumer beverage products. Project manage execution of PepsiCo deliverables defined in partner collaboration agreements. Interpret and integrate data streams from internal and partner labs. Define concept opportunities from early outputs of research collaborations, and screen in model systems, following PepsiCo’s Science and Technology stage gate process. Take leadership of projects once initiated and manage functional activity to ensure resources are aligned to maximise delivery. Develop and maintain effective working relationships across R&D and non R&D functions as necessary to support technology development and delivery. Report on projects/ program progression vs milestone planning through internal fora to senior management (from optimised one pagers to technical deep dive). Prepare scientific reports on findings and share best in class expertise with relevant associates Qualifications Essential Criteria M.S. with 5 years experience (including post graduate experience) in ingredient and process chemistry including ingredient interaction modelling and concept screening, beverage formulation, powder ingredient behaviour and functionality characterization, fundamental method development and modelling tool development. Ability to provide thought leadership on both strategic and tactical aspects of projects Outstanding teamwork, communication and leadership skills Ability to analyze and interpret complex data streams and outputs from multiple labs Proven track record in maintaining good working relationship across multiple functions. Demonstrated expertise to develop, plan, conduct and coordinate prototype development initiatives. Strong working knowledge of experimental design. Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written). Strong technical knowledge of biochemistry, ingredient interaction and model concept screening. Experience working with research partners at off-site lab locations would be an advantage. Additional Desired Criteria: Ph.D. Applied experience in ingredient and process chemistry, technology, beverage formulation and powder ingredient behaviour characterization will be an advantage. Being able to deal with ambiguity and turn into technical deliverables. Working within internal and external partner matrices. Focussed on PM process but with a solutions approach to addressing obstacles. Can-do attitude to delivering output using a matrix model. Lead and influence project teams of 3 or more people with successful translation of academic output to commercial opportunity.
