This job position is opened in the Lens Technologies and Sustainability department of the Group Lens Innovation division.
Within this department, the New Lens Technologies and Prototyping team (NLTP) is in charge of developing new technologies for ophthalmic lens prototyping and manufacturing.
This position falls within the film lamination activities, which aim at bringing functionalities to a lens through the application of a flexible film on its surface. The Studies Manager will lead technical studies to develop concepts and associated processes while bringing scientific understanding of the physical phenomena involved.
Working closely with other members of NLTP and experts from other teams (project mode), the Studies Manager will be in charge of:
assessing the performances of the developed concepts & processes, identifying relevant characteristics (e.g. of films & adhesives) to be investigated and carry out understanding studies, identifying potential compatibility issues with other processes applied to the lens and develop solutions.
Studies management Integrate study objectives and identify the technical strategy to be implemented, Set up test plans and characterization methodology with the support of relevant experts, Run test plans, autonomously or with technician(s)’ support, Analyze, summarize and communicate the results to team members and managers (written and spoken). Expertise development Remain aware of new trends and solutions in the relevant field(s) of expertise (materials, equipments…) through a regular scientific and techno watch (science papers, newsletters, technical fairs, conferences). Innovation protection Contribute to a patent watch. Contribute to memo innovation writing (for patent submission). External actors management Identify and be in contact with relevant external partners (e.g. suppliers of films, adhesives or characterization equipments, universities, …). EHS Comply with and advocate EHS rules.
PROFILE
Educational Background : Engineering (general, Process or Materials science), Msc in Physics or PhD. At least 3 years of experience in R&D environment working with polymers, Large knowledge of materials characterization (mechanics, optics, surface properties, chemistry…), Taste for experimental work, Knowledge of the ophthalmic industry (nice to have), Good knowledge of Microsoft suite, Good communication skills spoken / written, French / English. Scientific rigor, curiosity and creativity, Ability to work independently, to take initiatives, Open-minded, ability for teamwork and good interaction with others.
