General Summary:

Perform all required procedures in the Cardiovascular laboratory and operate specialized equipment including, but not limited to, computer systems, hemodynamic monitoring and have working knowledge of Cardiovascular laboratory. Trains staff technologists and students.

Essential Functions: Accepts patients and observes their condition to determine proper pre, intra and post special requirements. Maintains current knowledge/certification. Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease. Is knowledgeable about and has the ability to operate complex and sophisticated equipment related to a catheterization Labs. Maintains Cardiovascular laboratory equipment in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel. Performs various clerical duties. Maintains stock inventory and initiates orders. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Director. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Manipulates computer images for optimal quality and information. Trains staff technologists in special procedures. Is knowledgeable about and has ability to code and bill for procedures/supplies. Participates in performance improvement projects/activities as assigned by the director.
