Clover Leaf is seeking an experienced Radiological Control Technician (RCT) to join our team and provide support for radiation monitoring, safety, and control at our client’s DOE facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The RCT will be responsible for monitoring personnel, work areas, and equipment in radiological areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and controlling exposure to internal and external radiation sources. Job Description:
The Radiological Control Technician (RCT) will be responsible for:
Monitoring personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas to control exposure from internal and external radiation sources. Recommending appropriate personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and work time limits for operations and maintenance personnel working with radiation sources. Observing processes and collecting, reading, recording, evaluating, and reporting data from radiation detection devices, air samples, and bioassay sampling. Investigating causes and effects of radiation levels exceeding set guides, standards, and limits, and recommending corrective actions. Calibrating radiation detection instruments and operating automated low background counting equipment. Processing thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) and conducting lung counts. Participating in the planning phase of new work processes to ensure radiation safety protocols are in place. Serving as a member of the emergency response organization, responding to radiological incidents as needed. THE CANDIDATE MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A DOE Q CLEARANCE.Qualifications:
Requires DOE RCT standardized CORE training certification. Ability to perform mathematical computations and conversions for expressing sampling and monitoring results in appropriate units and terms. Knowledgeable and trained in the principles, methods, and mechanics of monitoring and sampling radiological hazards. In-depth understanding of the basic nature and types of radiation. Ability to recognize, investigate, and resolve issues related to radiation safety standards and limits, and recommend corrective actions. THE CANDIDATE MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A DOE Q CLEARANCE. Education & Experience: Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field with 10 to 15 years of related experience, OR High school diploma with 20 or more years of relevant experience. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in radiation control and safety.
