Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic in Arizona Department of Radiation Oncology seeks an early career physician scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Qualified new graduates will be considered. The candidate should be a board-eligible/certified radiation oncologist, an interest in CNS malignancies is preferred. Responsibilities include leading basic science/translation research efforts, education of trainees and staff, and participating in clinical practice.
The Department of Radiation Oncology currently has fifteen staff physicians. Physics support and treatment planning is provided by eleven PhD physicists, seven MS physicists and seventeen dosimetrists. State-of-the-art equipment include four Varian TrueBeam accelerators, three CT simulators with 4D capability, four Hitachi proton gantries and ongoing programs in SRS, SBRT, TBI, TSE, HDR brachytherapy and IORT.
The Mayo Clinic in Arizona recently completed a campus expansion plan, nearly doubling the size of the campus in 2024. This includes a brand new 150,000 square foot Integrated Education and Research Building with advanced biomedical and translation research laboratory space. Our neuro-oncology labs incorporate experts across fields of cancer cell and molecular biology, genomics, tumor immunobiology, neuroscience and imaging who work together toward the goal of target development into pre-clinical studies and subsequently expanding clinical trials for patients.
