Role description
Arcadis Canada is seeking motivated and passionate Junior and Intermediate scientists and engineers to join our Rad-Risk Group in the Greater Toronto Area. This role offers the opportunity to work within the field of radiological science and engineering, contributing to a variety of innovative and impactful projects. Our team tackles challenges across the nuclear fuel cycle, from mining to waste management and new reactors. We also lead initiatives focused on managing Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) in mining and industrial applications. As part of the Rad-Risk Group, you’ll have the chance to explore diverse areas, including:
Strategic advice and regulatory compliance Radiological and chemical safety assessments Radiation shielding assessments and impact evaluations Radiological monitoring, survey planning, and radiation protection program managementYou will play a critical role in delivering high-quality projects related to risk, safety, and environmental impact for clients in the nuclear energy sector, while also gaining exposure to other areas of our business.
Role accountabilities
In this position, you will work collaboratively under the guidance of Project Managers, contributing to various project tasks such as:
Analyzing and interpreting environmental data to support client projects Drafting technical reports for clients and regulators, as well as non-technical documents for the general public Performing and documenting risk assessment calculations using tools like MicroShield, RESRAD, or spreadsheets, and occasionally assisting with dispersion or shielding modeling Conducting quality assurance checks on calculations and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance Reviewing scientific literature and data to select appropriate parameters for projects Coordinating project budgets and schedules to meet client expectationsAdditionally, you will support proposal preparation, including defining project scopes, work plans, qualifications, budgets, and schedules. You will also contribute to client development activities, including opportunities to present at industry conferences.

Education and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Radiation Science, Nuclear Science and Engineering, Health Physics, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred. Junior candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a relevant field. Intermediate candidates should have at least 6 years of experience, including 3+ years specifically in radiological sciences and engineering. Strong skills in mathematics (including statistics), radiochemistry, radiological and nuclear engineering, health physics, and radiation protection are highly desirable. Experience with shielding models is considered a significant asset.Why Arcadis?

The salary range for this position is $66,000-99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.#LI-HC2
