Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join the Central Maine Medical Center Radiation Therapy Team!
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, benefit eligible position.
As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the care and treatment of cancer patients. You will operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, work collaboratively with oncologists and medical physicists, and ensure the safe delivery of radiation therapy to our patients.
The Radiation Therapist performs responsibilities associated with the localization of tumors and the administration of radiation therapy.
The Cancer Care Center at Central Maine Medical Center is an integrated, multi-disciplinary program that combines a full spectrum of services and medical specialists to diagnose and treat cancer all in one center. Some of the best minds in cancer care work together, using advanced technology, to give people with cancer the best options for treatment and recovery.
Central Maine Healthcare offers some of the most advanced technology, including image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and RapidArc technology. These techniques deliver highly powerful and precise radiation to the tumor, while preserving the healthy tissue. That precise targeting means fewer treatments are usually necessary and you’ll experience fewer side effects.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the oncologist.
Position and immobilize patients for accurate treatment delivery.
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment and ensure quality assurance.
Monitor patients during treatment sessions and provide emotional support.
Collaborate with oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
Regulatory Requirements:
• High School graduate; BS degree preferred.
• Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy Technology.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Certified by the State of Maine to practice and administer radiation.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
