Primary Function
This position is accountable for administering radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care.
The Radiation Therapist is under the direct supervision of the Cancer Center Nurse Manager and the authority of the Medical Oncologist.
Duties and Responsibilities
Help patients to understand the potential side effects of radiation treatment and how to manage any associated side effects.
Prepares room, equipment, medication and supplies appropriately related to the procedure being performed.
Establish the correct radiation dosage and location or area to treat and safely provide the correct radiotherapy treatment to patients.
Maintain detailed records of all therapy sessions, noting on the patient's chart such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date.
Collaborates with Physician/Oncologist, to make appropriate recommendations concerning patient care.
Seeks information and direction when uncertain of new procedures and treatment.
Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the office is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T) and licensed by the State Department of Health Successfully passing the certification test Proper adherence to ethical standards CPR certification
Working Conditions
Clean comfortable climate with some exposure to clinically infectious diseases and contact with bodily fluids.
Quiet to moderate noise environment.
Must possess the ability to lift and assist in the movement of patients.
