Job Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology is looking for a Radiation Therapist to administer doses of radiation as prescribed by the radiation oncologist for the treatment of disease, utilizing ionizing radiation producing equipment. Operate in a safe and patient focused manner to provide high quality patient care.  Work on a highly functional team, at Brighton Center for Specialty care with a requirement for flexibility in job duties per requirements of the team and dependent upon clinic needs.  Proficiency in delivering External Beam Radiation Therapy Treatments to cancer patients, as well as experience working in a CT simulator.

Responsibilities*Conduct and assist simulation procedures, perform patient treatment education and training for EBRTDeliver EBRT treatments using Varian TrueBeam ranging in complexity from standard 3D treatments to SBRTHelp to maintain all equipment in safe and satisfactory working order, reporting all replacement needs to the chief therapistContribute to the development, modification and interpretation of the Radiation Oncology guidelines, policies, and procedures, including quality assurance activities.Be flexible and willing to work where needed when the team requires additional assistance in simulation or treatment areasHelp to identify areas of operational inefficiency and participate in the implementation of department growth initiativesServe as a resource to patients and other healthcare providers at BCSC

 

Required Qualifications*Graduation from high school is necessary; graduation from an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology is necessary.Registration or registry-eligible in radiation therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is necessary.At least one year of clinical experience at University of Michigan Radiation Oncology and ARIA user experienceCompetent and proficient performing all procedures including: OBI, SDX, CBCT Treatment, and new startsAbove average attendance is mandatoryResponds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problemsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills as measured by references and interviewsDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environmentBuilds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect

 

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday with rotating 8 hour shift between 7:00 - 5pm

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Physician Assistants of Michigan Medicine, which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
