Job Summary

Lead and supervise a team of information technology professionals responsible for managing, supporting, and maintaining mission critical radio communications for PSEG NJ service territory. Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of P25 Radio communication systems in support of Electric and Gas Delivery in PSEG's service territory (including land mobile radios in vehicles & dispatch offices, supporting Microwave communications infrastructure, radio antennas, dispatch consoles, voice logging, etc.) Partner with Operations Managers across all departments to facilitate business processes and system support, as well as ensure that users are properly trained in radio operation and emergency response.

Job Responsibilities Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all technology initiatives related to Land Mobile Radio system & supporting Microwave communications infrastructure. Ensure that standards and procedures are in place for work the team supports across all Land Mobile Radio & Microwave infrastructure and platforms. Develop and maintain Life Cycle Upgrade plans and DR/BCP plans to ensure uninterrupted business operations. Oversee Radio/Microwave Tower and Shelter Maintenance - including Generators, HVAC, Fire Suppression Systems, and Vegetation Control Support the release management process by coordinating and overseeing production deployments. Lead and support problem, defect, and incident management processes for area of focus. Maintain a secure operating environment through patch management, audit, and security processes. Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programs for Infrastructure systems including patching, upgrades, tuning and performance management. Work with various SMEs and suppliers to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production systems failures, formulate corrective action plans, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and track their effectiveness. Prepare and manage budget and finances for area of responsibility. Identify areas to reduce cost. Participate in the evaluation of vendor proposals for procurement of hardware, software, and professional services. Lead team of IT associates. Responsible for attracting talent, performance evaluation, career development, coaching and counseling and manage compensation. Work and communicate with a wide range of people including peers, vendors, staff members, broader functional and appropriate business leadership, and others. Consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion.

 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, and 6 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 2 years in an IT Operations role supporting infrastructure.
- Without a bachelor’s degree, at least 10 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum 4 years in infrastructure support.
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITIL) and overall understanding of Infrastructure components.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management in the day-to-day activities related to supporting critical systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a geographically dispersed team.
- Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work.
effectively with internal clients from various business organizations and lines of business, and IT management and staff.
- Experience with monitoring tools and platforms.
- Ability to work in a 24 X 7 environment with callout availability required.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Desired:
- Experience with land mobile radio communications technology, system operation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of telecommunications, electric distribution, and application management.

- Working knowledge of the basic rules and regulations of the FCC pertaining to radio systems operations and licensing requirements.
