We are looking for a Radio Producer assigned to the morning show Par ici l’info on ICI Première, based in Sherbrooke.
You are naturally positive and emphasize collaborative leadership. You have excellent editorial judgment, a lot of creativity, and know how to maintain good interpersonal relationships. You know how to harness the full potential of digital platforms and highlight content that will fuel citizen conversations. You understand the diverse nature of the Estrie population and the importance of representing all communities in our content.
Reporting to the station manager, you will be responsible for planning, designing, organizing, or developing the production and direction of the morning radio show, which highlights the richness and diversity of the communities served, while following current events in Quebec, Canada, and around the world. You will ensure that the work adheres to Radio-Canada’s Standards and Journalistic Practices. However, you will have plenty of freedom to show initiative, independent judgment, and creativity. In seeking the best ways to motivate, you will regularly supervise and coordinate the work of other team members.
You have new ideas for creating quality shows that the Canadian public expects from us. You think outside the box, always on the lookout for new ways to create distinctive, intelligent, and innovative content; qualities that are also yours.
Main responsibilities:
Participate in the preparation of show objectives.
Develop content for a show, including topics covered, research, texts, and/or editing.
Commission texts or research as needed.
Determine the style, pace, rhythm, composition, and format of the show.
Plan and organize the show or components and/or segments of the show.
Plan, choose, and request, in collaboration with regional management, the necessary financial and operational resources for production, including creative and other staff, materials, and facilities.
Evaluate all aspects of production, including the performance of programming and production staff and freelance collaborators.
Collaborate with directors of other shows.
Additional Responsibilities (as needed):
Select, adapt, and/or revise texts from others.
Ensure, in collaboration with copyright clearance agents, that appropriate permission has been obtained to use all materials in the show.
Determine the order and importance of the various elements of the show.
Assign, coordinate, and supervise the work of team members contributing to the show or a segment of the show.
Organize and coordinate online content.
Edit and mix audio elements, or direct their editing and mixing.
Ensure a continuous communication level or report with the audience that is achievable and appropriate for the style and nature of the show, and participate in this activity as needed.
Select and propose show segments for digital platforms to increase reach and user engagement.
Desired profile:
University degree or equivalent in journalism, communications, political science, or related fields
Five (5) years of experience, including three (3) in broadcasting or a related sector, directly related to the field of assignment or show direction
Strong leadership skills, positive and collaborative
A genuine willingness to embody and promote the values of a respectful culture focused on diversity and inclusion
Knowledge of Radio-Canada’s mandate, programming policies, and Journalistic Standards and Practices
Excellent understanding of issues and events specific to Estrie
Excellent editorial judgment
Excellent knowledge of regional, national, and international news
Proficient in social media and a good understanding of the digital environment
Strong team skills and interpersonal relations
Initiative and resourcefulness
Organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
Ability to go on air is an asset
