CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking candidates for two (2) Radio Producer positions at its Rimouski station. These employees will be assigned to produce the morning show Info réveil or the drive-home show Même fréquence. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, News and Programming, for the Lower St. Lawrence.
This role requires creativity, strong leadership and sound judgment to successfully fulfil the show’s mandate. You’ll also need a keen understanding of digital media to effectively promote content and engage with audiences.
Work must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and/or programming policies, standards and practices, and you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. There is also a regular and ongoing requirement to co-ordinate the work of others.
You will have the following duties:
Conceive, develop and execute program ideas and content. Participate in the preparation of program objectives in line with the mandate.
Plan, organize and develop program content, including assigning and researching.
In accordance with management objectives, determine the style, pace, tempo, lineup and format of the program.
Be responsible and accountable for managing the program budget.
Be curious about new digital formats and be eager to experiment with them in creating multimedia content for all Radio-Canada digital platforms.
Evaluate all facets of a production and programming; assist in evaluating the performance of personnel and freelance contributors.
What you bring:
University degree or equivalent in communications; communications and journalism, communications writing and multimedia; or any other relevant university degree
Five (5) years’ journalistic experience of which at least three (3) must involve work in radio and/or television broadcasting
Ability and confidence to make good decisions rapidly and frequently, often under deadline; ability to handle stress and work well under pressure
Ability to keep track of a number of simultaneous activities, to plan and prioritize and to analyze complex journalistic and operational issues
Leadership skills to inspire and direct creative, experienced and self-motivated staff with a consultative, respectful and “team approach” style
Solid command of French; good knowledge of English an asset
Proven journalism skills
Ability to generate original story ideas
Superior editorial judgment
Good knowledge of issues affecting the Lower St. Lawrence and Eastern Quebec regions
Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming
Passion for emerging technologies
Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices
