Radiochemist - Cyclotron (Full-Time, 40, Night)
RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for manufacturing operations of the cyclotron facility including radionuclide production and synthesis of positron emission tomography (PET) drug products. • Operates cyclotron and automated synthesis systems. • Ensures operations comply with regulatory requirements and the policies and procedures of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC). II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, walking, finger dexterity, frequent gripping of an object. • Frequent: pushing/pulling weight up to 5 pounds of force, reaching below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions. • Occasional: sitting, stooping/bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting body, lifting and carrying weight of 20 pounds up to 30 pounds, reaching above and at shoulder level. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: • Ph.D. in radiochemistry or related chemistry field; or Master of Science degree in chemistry with two (2) years of experience in organic chemistry, radio-metal chemistry, or other field applicable to chemical synthesis. B. EXPERIENCE: • Two (2) years experience as a Radiochemist at a cyclotron (radiopharmaceutical – PET) facility. • Experience to demonstrate: o Knowledge and ability with cyclotron production of a radioisotopes. o Ability to initialize and maximize system performance for both cyclotron and synthesis units. o Competency in a variety of lab equipment for quality control methodology and in biologic quality control testing of sterile products. o Knowledge and familiarity with compliance to regulatory authorities including NRC and FDA and compliance with ANDA, cGMP, and ALARA. • Prior experience in electronic submission of regulatory information preferred. • Prior experience in chemistry synthesis modules (GE, Trasis) preferred. • Prior experience in research preferred.
