Radiologic Technologist Location: Juneau, AK Duration: 13 Weeks Shift Information: Primary Days, Some shared call/discussed at interview Description: Must Be ARRT Certified Perform radiographic exams, including Computed Tomography (CT), Radiography (R), and Mammography (M), works independently in performing these modalities. Collaborate with radiologists, providers, and other technologists to improve patient care. Provides on-call services on a rotational basis. Apply previous computer experience to new applications for imaging and record keeping. May be required to travel to provide services at clinics throughout the Consortium. Understand that inadequate communication with the patient, provider, and radiologist can adversely affect patient health. Creatively works with other Client staff to solve problems. Accountabilities CT: Performs diagnostic CT exams of human anatomy. Places IVs for contrast injections. Follows protocols set by the radiologist. Performs daily QA/QC on CT equipment. Receives patient, explains procedure, and creates a safe environment for the patient through good communication skills. Accurately inputs pertinent medical information into EHR, RIS/PACS, and other systems as necessary. Is very familiar with power injectors and appropriate use. Understands various types of contrast media and their use. Radiography: Performs diagnostic x-ray examinations of human anatomy. Follows standard positions and protocols, and views prescribed by Client radiologists. Receives patients, explains procedures and utilizes standardized techniques, settings, and positions to accomplish acceptable results. Mammography: Works closely with the Radiologists and Client’s Lead Mammographer to produce quality mammograms. Performs routine views as required and special views as requested. Recognizes pathology. Assists Radiologists with breast needle localizations. Maintains accurate records of quality control tests to keep Client in compliance with ACR/FDA standards. Coordinates patient’s care with other departments within Client. Performs all Mammography QA/QC (MQSA). Office Duties: Performs office jobs including but not limited to, answering phones, scheduling patients’ exams, printing reports, retrieving charts, researching problems, ordering supplies and helping radiologists and providers. Responsible for QA and QC for Client imaging modalities. Documents: Amount of contrast administered, exam performed and other information as required by the Joint Commission standards. Provides on-call services for after hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications Education Graduation from an accredited Radiography School Experience 1 year radiology technologist experience required 1 year experience CT in a hospital setting required 1 year digital mammography experience required Certifications Radiology Technologist registered in Radiography, Computed Tomography, and Mammography ARRT certified (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Radiography (R) required Computed Tomography (CT) required Mammography (M) required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology used in standard radiographic, CT, and Mammography exams Extensive knowledge of radiation physics and protection (ALARA) Extensive understanding and knowledge of CT (computed tomography) and Mammography modalities Considerable knowledge of computed and digital imaging and multiple computer systems including the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and teleradiology Skills Skilled at independently performing radiographic, CT and Mammography exams Skilled in oral and written communications Skilled in organizing and cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment in serviceable condition Skilled at utilizing the PACS for teleradiology Abilities Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with supervisors, radiologists, providers, patients, computer technologists, and Client staff Able to perform multiple tasks in a small department Able to learn new imaging exams as required by radiologists or providers Able to learn new equipment and systems for imaging and hospital procedures Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging Sub Specialty(s): Mammographer, Ultrasound Technologist General ab/ob small parts, Radiologic Technologist EMR Used: Cerner Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Certifications/Requirements BLS/BCLS ARRT As an equal opportunity employer, ICONMA provides an employment environment that supports and encourages the abilities of all persons without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or express, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability status, political affiliation, genetics, marital status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
