Summary :The Radiologic Technologist II is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures on all patients. Evaluates image quality and utilizes proper radiation safety practices.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of main department, interventional radiology, surgery, emergency department, and outpatient surgery.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to perform all radiology procedures per protocol and adjusts techniques according to patient needs, i.e., critical or emergency. Consults with providers as needed.

Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.

Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.

Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.

Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED preferred

Must be 18 years of age

Graduate of an accredited radiography program

ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Wisconsin license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock

Occasional high noise level in work environment

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents

Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

Schedule: Monday-Friday position variable hours, day shifts.
