Radiologic Technologist Job Description 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology Currently registered ARRT in Minnesota Written and oral communication skills

 

PREFERRED:

Previous work experience as a Radiologic Technologist Member MSRT or ASRT

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity required.  Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently.  Some lifting may be required.  May need to travel from one clinic to another to perform job functions.

Select proper technical factors and operate equipment in a safe and concise manner ensuring established protocol for quality control. Ensure rooms are well stocked, department is organized and esthetically pleasing. Complete assignments as delegated by Supervisor.

 

Technical:

Produces high quality radiographs with minimal errors. Demonstrates clinical competence in using correct processes to provide care to patients and their families. Implements established HealthPartners policies and procedures. Provides support to patients and their families. Documents patient information accurately and completely and keeps records regarding clinical practice. Follows the imaging protocols set forth by their respective department. Shares information with other members of the health care team. Uses interdisciplinary resources to enhance own decision-making. Solves problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the HealthPartners team. Uses appropriate systems, automated or manual, to obtain patient information.

 

Education:

Engages in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching in terms of understanding and application. Participates in patient care conferences, in-services and educational programs in the HealthPartners system and community. Maintains ARRT registration by completing required continuing education.

X-Ray Operator Job Description 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

Passed Minnesota State X-ray Operator examination. 

 

PREFERRED:

Graduate of a 1-year X-ray Technician program or completion of 1-year Radiologic Technology School and at least 20 competencies.

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position.  Manual dexterity required.  Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently.  Some lifting may be required.

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provide high quality exams with minimum errors. Exams performed may include skeletal, chest and abdomen radiographic exams and possibly bone densitometry and audiograms, clinic specific. Assist registered technologists with fluoroscopy, IVPs, mammography and sonographers with ultrasound exams, as needed. Ensure high quality patient care while working cooperatively with physicians and co-workers. Ensure patient confidentiality. Implement professional standards at all times using independent judgement as needed when necessary to depart from established techniques. Act as a resource for other staff.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

An X-ray Operator’s evaluation will be based on his/her performance in the following areas:

 

1. General Accountabilities

Performance is up to standard when the X-ray Operator:

Adheres to the radiology patient service standards. Provides proper radiation protection and quality care to patients, employees and self by selecting proper technical factors and operating equipment in a safe effective manner while ensuring established protocol for quality control is followed. Confirm patient information on charge ticket/exam request, review finished exam for completeness and organize films for reading. Maintains a well-stocked and esthetic exam room to ensure an organized, safe and professional environment. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy. Performs exams according to radiology protocols and uses independent judgement as needed when necessary to depart from established techniques. Follows strict OSHA standards. Follows policies and procedures in the Infection Control Notebook. Is informed and knowledgeable of new technology. Performs other duties as assigned by Radiology Supervisor or RTIC or Lead.

 

2. Technical

Performance is up to standard when the X-ray Operator:

Produces high quality radiographs with minimal errors. Provides support to patients and their families. Adheres to HealthPartners policy and procedures. Uses appropriate systems to obtain patient information and schedule appointments. Completes and maintains radiology files, film jackets and logbooks.

 

3. Education

Performance is up to standard when the X-ray Operator:

Shows evidence of having passed the Minnesota State X-ray Operator examination. CPR certification recommended.
