An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radioactive Waste Lead at Vulcan NRTE. The role will take a lead with all management and sentencing of waste on the site and will ensure appropriate strategies and plans are in place to demonstrate compliance with all nuclear and environmental regulation relevant to site operations.

What you will be doing
Key accountabilities of the role include:
Leading the Radioactive Waste element of the Vulcan programme, overseeing day-to-day management of waste on site and ensuring on-site management and sentencing of waste in line with all relevant legislation, regulation, MOD and Rolls-Royce processesProviding advice and support to the Site Authorisee and site teams on Radioactive Waste matters, and assuming a delegated responsibility from the Site Authorisee for all solid waste management on the siteLeading development of all necessary strategic and operational documentation for the site relating to the management of potentially Radioactive wastes of all categories and formsEnsuring site compliance with AC 32/33/34 and SEPA radioactive waste disposal authorisation and managing the preparation and ongoing accountancy of all waste inventories and their associated submissions to UKRWIWho we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline. Qualification as a Radioactive Waste Advisor (RWA) would be advantageous (or skills and experience and a willingness to work towards such a qualification), but not essentialDemonstrable knowledge of all radioactive waste types and their management is essential, to include strategic planning, assay, interim storage and disposal acceptance levels and criteriaKnowledge and experience of radioactive sampling techniques and processes to support site characterisation and groundwater samplingFamiliarity of working in a nuclear environment, including regulatory and authorisation compliance requirementsWe’re an equal opportunities employer.
