Position Summary
Education Graduate of an accredited Radiologist Assistant program required.
Certifications/Licensure Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy required. Job Specific Performance Standards The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. Assess patient for possible contraindications (e.g., history, medications, pregnancy, psychological status) Review patient record and other information to verify appropriateness of procedure. Interview patient to obtain, verify, or update medical history. Explain procedure (risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up) and any required pharmaceuticals. Obtain or verify informed consent and confirm adequate exam preparation (e.g, diet, medications) Perform physical exam and evaluate lab studies as needed, report findings to the radiologist. Administer local anesthetic: select and insert needle, catheter, or tube to required location; collect fluids and measure pressures as needed; maintain aseptic environment throughout procedure. Prepare and administer contrast agents prescribed by radiologist. Position patient; operate fluoro unit modifying procedure as necessary, observe and evaluate structure and function; and document fluoroscopy time. Monitor patient status and respond as needed (e g., discomfort, drug reactions, cardiac distress). Evaluate procedure for completeness and diagnostic quality, recommend additional images as required; communicate initial observations to the radiologist. Educate patient regarding follow-up care and verify comprehension. Document procedure and record exceptions from established protocol. Evaluate final images. Use measuring tools (distance, ROI, percent of stenosis calculation) Export images to server, secure website, or report.
Performs selected radiology examinations and procedures under the supervision of a radiologist while providing patient management and assessment care in the diagnostic and therapeutic imaging environment.
Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Previous experience working as a Registered Radiologist Assistant in a hospital setting preferred.Education Graduate of an accredited Radiologist Assistant program required.
