OverviewThe Radiology & IR Departments are in the basement of the hospital. These areas serve outpatient and inpatient patients who require procedures that require medical imaging to help diagnosis and treat certain problems. They see infants and adults. There are two sides to this. One group of nurses prepare and recover the patient following the procedure, while another group of nurses is in the rooms with the interventional radiologists and others to assist with the procedures. Some of these nurses do go over to MD Anderson for Radiologic cases scheduled over there.
The RNs in these areas are to have 1-year Critical Care Experience, Dysrhythmia experience, BLS, ACLS, PALS. There are also unit specific CLN’s that are assigned.
Short DescriptionResponsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling technologists, nursing and physicians to perform their duties in an effective manner. Maintain inventory levels of supplies and organize stock so that it’s properly maintained to avoid loss during daily operations or expiration. Clean assigned work areas and related equipment. Assist medical, technical, and clerical staff to prepare patients and patient rooms for procedures. Collect and deposit soiled laundry appropriately to ensure proper sanitation standards and cleaning of work areas. Provide the highest level of patient satisfaction by promptly and courteously responding to the needs and requests of our patients, visitors, and staff. Responds to questions with clear, accurate information; provide assistance to patients and their families. Acts as a positive role model and team player demonstrating Hospital Mission and Core Values and adheres to policies, procedures and standards established by Hospital, Department and Regulatory Agencies.
Experience RequiredPreferred previous patient care
Computer literate
Strong interpersonal/communication skills
Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required.
License/Certification RequirementsMust obtain the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification during department orientation if not certified prior to hire.
