Radiology Clinical Instructor
**Job Type:** Regular **Time Type:** Full time **Work Shift:** Day (United States of America) **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt **When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.** Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Site Managers, Radiologists, Chief Technologist and in collaboration with the Lead Radiology Technologist, affiliated College, Program Director and J.R.C.E.R.T. guidelines, is responsible for providing radiologic technology students with appropriate and adequate clinical instruction/supervision on all infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Evaluates students clinical radiologic technology competencies. **Job Description:** **Essential Role Responsibilities:** Techniques and Procedures: + Consistently produces images of diagnostic quality by using proper exposure factors and collimation with limited repeats. + Correctly labels all images with left, right, ID markers, and patient name. + Assists radiologists with procedures per modality. Anticipates the needs of the radiologists and ensures that rooms are properly set up and working before the physician arrives to perform the exam. + Evaluates images to ensure that they possess the necessary density, contrast, detail, and positioning to provide the radiologist with a quality image for interpretation. + Conducts quality control activities and documents appropriately. Information processing: + Enters and maintains accurate patient information in the computer. + Obtains and relays pertinent clinical information to radiologist and examines prep consult form before performing procedure to be sure proper examination is performed. + Operates Epic and PACS information system according to hospital and departmental privacy and confidentiality standards. Understands all required functions in technologist menu including but not limited to entering, editing, canceling, entering exam related charges, entering patient tracking detail. + Provides “wet readings” to appropriate health care providers as needed. Maintains appropriate documentation according to department guidelines. + Understands and follows protocols for calling in the on-call radiologist, technologist, and administrator-on-call. (from all areas – CT, G/V, NM, US) Clinical Instructor Responsibilities: + With assistance of technical staff, performs student competency evaluations according to college syllabus. + Upgrades course materials such as; text books, preparation of notes and written tests. + Works with Chief Technologist to resolve issues between students and radiologic technologists and/or radiologists. + Follows guidelines with disciplining and counseling students as appropriate. + Routinely critiques films with students. + Performs repeat analysis with students on a monthly basis. + Prepares, administers and grades written exams according to college syllabus. + Responsible for the preparation and teaching of classes for students on a routine basis. + Provides Radiology department new employees with orientation to clinical education aspects of college/Beverly Hospital program. + Routinely meets with radiographers to provide and receive input on student program. + Completes a performance appraisal for each student at the clinical site at times set bu the college. + Serves as a positive role model to student radiographers. Professional Development: Maintains currency in contemporary radiology practice, clinical skills and health care policy. + Assumes responsibility as a self directed professional by seeking on going CEU’s according to State and ARRT regulations. Provides copies of CEU’s to appropriate supervisor. + Maintains certification with ARRT and Massachusetts Radiation Control Program. + Demonstrates a pro-active and positive approach to new programs within the work area. Willingly participates with new procedures and techniques. + Assists in the orientation of new employees as requested. Serves as a mentor after orienting. + Develops education program for both students and technologists throughout the year by providing inservices and/or classes. (This can be done with outside speakers, sales representatives, Radiologists etc.) + Assist in the planning of Radioloigic Technologist week activities and involves students with an activity to represent Radiologic Technologist. + Current CPR certification. (renewed bi-annually) Education/Experience: + High school diploma or equivalent + Successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technologist program. + 2 to 3 years clinical experience preferred. Certification/License: + American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT); renewed annually + Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences preferred + Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist License; renewed bi-annually + BLS Certified renewed bi-annually **As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
