SUMMARY
The radiologist assistant is identified as an "advanced-level radiologic technologist who works under the supervision of a radiologist to enhance patient care by assisting the radiologist in the diagnostic imaging environment."
The Radiologist Assistant is not a radiologist nor a physician assistant but rather a valuable addition to the radiology team who can enhance quality patient care by performing advanced level radiological services under the supervision of a radiologist.

• Responsible for obtaining and maintaining accountability of service. Including a detailed review with the radiologist of the unsupervised service being provided including a detailed patient history for fluoroscopy, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound Bone Density and MRI Patients under the supervision of the radiologist patient imaging determined.
• Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the RIS/PACS and in patient charts as necessary.
• Responsible for oversight and administration of various procedures that are performed in the scope of radiology services under guidance of supervising radiologist.
• Cleans, restocks and prepares rooms on a daily basis.
• Attends hospital and departmental meetings and in-services, peer review process as required.
• Review all outpatient referrals: evaluate prior imaging for fluoroscopy and interventional procedures to ascertain appropriateness of procedure. Obtain appropriate blood work, review medication, allergies etc. prior to exam. Work with ordering provider and scheduling to assure smooth appointment and outcome for patient. Work directly with patients prior to appointments to resolve any questions or concerns they may have.
• Responsible for working closely with all inpatient departments when exams/procedures are scheduled for radiology. Review patient chart, meds, contraindications, and provide feedback to the floors/departments prior to patient coming to department.
• If applicable- Responsible for follow up post procedure for pathology results; dictate the final pathology results addendum and send to radiologist for review and any follow up. Call the ordering provider to make sure they are aware of positive results and dictate date of conversation in addendum.
• If applicable- Receive billing spreadsheet with radiology report discrepancies for billing denials. Research patient medical record, review the images, search for additional signs and symptoms, addend and send to radiologist as appropriate to ensure prompt reimbursement.
• If applicable- Performs MQSA EQUIP mammography reviews.
• Responsible for mentoring of radiology students/residents during exams and procedures.
• If applicable- Provide PICC team coverage as needed.
• Evaluates medical images, reviews preliminary reports and images with a supervising physician, and prepares a technical report that will be reviewed and signed off by the supervising Radiologist.
• Provides assessment and evaluation of the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of patients scheduled for radiology services, as needed.
• If applicable- Responsible for provider initial interpretation of studies
• Performs pre-and post-procedure evaluations and post procedure follow-ups including progress and discharge notes.
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• 2 years college certificate or equivalent
• Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
• Computer skills required.
• Must complete a program for the training of radiologic assistants approved by the New York State Education Department.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
• NYS license as a Radiology Specialist Assistant
• NYS license in Radiologic Technology
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT) Required.

14621The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
