Radiology Tech
Job Summary The Radiologist Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Diagnostic Radiology department and throughout the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Produce a variety of high quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique + Administer contrast media using proper technique and according to department policy + Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions + Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits + Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions + Follow department, NRC, and State policies and regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA" + Educate the patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome + Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel + Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor + Perform procedures as the schedule requires and rotate call + Perform other duties as assigned Summary of Other Job Duties and Expectations + Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center + Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers + Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties + Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive workplace and customer environments + Work as a team to continuously improve work quality. + Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients + Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services + Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette + Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling, when necessary, to ensure patient care Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology Preferred Education: N/A Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is preferred, but will accept a new graduate Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be ARRT registered or registry eligible; applicants who are registry eligible must be registered within three months of employment. Must be BLS certified
