Radiology Technician - X-Ray Limited Scope

JOB SUMMARY: Radiology Technician (X-Ray Limited Scope) operates radiologic equipment to take diagnostic XRAYs. Performs routine diagnostic procedures. Takes, annotates, and sends patient images. Assist clinical and administrative personnel by completing various patient forms and reports. This is an entry-level role and requires only an ARRT Limited Scope Certification, allowing the employee to perform basic duties under the supervision and with guidance from a fully certified Radiology Technician. This position offers an opportunity to complete didactic and clinical hours needed to be eligible for the ARRT exam. During clinical hours the Imaging Specialist will perform x-ray exams and other job duties dependent on clinic needs. 

Major Job Responsibilities/ Essential Functions: 

· Operates XRAY machine to perform routine diagnostic procedures.

· Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking XRAYs.

· Follows established safety standards.

· Observes patient vital signs during examination.

· Decides length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.

· Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.

· Annotates digital image.

· Examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, magnification, and distortion.

· Prepares for delivery to radiologist/doctor for reading/interpretation.

· Maintains, cleans, and disinfects XRAY rooms and office area.

· Fills and restocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.

· Ensures radiologic equipment is clean and maintained.

· Maintains an attractive and comfortable work area.

· Develops patient visit for XRAY only patients.

· Places records in patient charts, adds billing codes for XRAYs and keeps proper order.

· Establishes and maintains effective and professional relationships with patients, families, key decision-makers, facility, and department staff, and collaborating physicians.

· Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. 

· Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form which may jeopardize the privacy of patients.

· Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

· Maintain personal commitment to the Steadman Clinic mission and values.

· Follow policies as established in the Employee Handbook.

· Attend regular staff meetings and other required meetings.

· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

 Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:· Graduate or enrolled in an ARRT approved Radiological Technology Program (Limited Scope Course).· Current or enrolled in ARRT limited scope license.· Demonstrated problem solving and workflow management skills required.· Must be energetic, quality driven and have proven ability to be productive member of a cohesive team of peers dedicated to providing optimum patient care.· Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other Steadman Clinic and hospital personnel in involved in patient care.· Must demonstrate understanding of procedures, policies and documentation required to ensure compliance with hospital standards of care.

Excellent critical thinking skills and manage time effectively.

Certificate/License:  Current ARRT Limited Scope certification. Current certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers required. Full range of body motion including handling and lifting XRAY equipment, manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs.Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
