Radiology Technologist
Position Summary Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols.  Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.  Performs necessary warm-up procedures on equipment and restocks room. Completes Medical Assistant Job Duties when needed. Minimum Qualifications Work Experience None required.
Education Completion of Radiological Technology program of study.
Certifications/Licensure Registration or eligibility for registration with the ARRT required. State of Kentucky Radiation Operator Certification required. If certified by the State of Kentucky prior to 1978, candidates are considered grandfathered into the profession and registration with the ARRT is not required. Job Specific Performance Standards The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position.   Obtains patient history and consent prior to exam. Identifies potential for pregnancy. Assists with preparation for exams and special procedures. Obtains height, weight, visual acuity. Explains Procedures and properly dresses patient for exam. Ensures cleanliness and preparedness of exam rooms before each use in accordance with Infection Control principles. Participates in teaching patients and families by reinforcing teaching done by other healthcare providers. Performs capillary, venipuncture, and other selected specimen collections and processes specimens. Communicates patient information with healthcare providers as necessary. Performs EKG and processes report. Performs Breath Alcohol Testing, pulmonary function testing, and audiometric testing as necessary. Programs radiology machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations according to established procedure manual.  Modifies established procedure manual within established policy when unable to perform standard procedures. Identifies patient film with name, date, and exam number correctly.  Applies proper shielding and collimating for patient protection according to established guidelines. Processes x-ray film and files film to be read by the physician. Ensures proper charges and credits are applied to patient bill.
