Radiology Technologist ASC II

Description (Basic Function): Under the direction of a qualified provider, the Radiology Technologist working in OR and Pain Management will utilize portable radiographic equipment to include C-arms producing ionizing radiation to obtain radiographs for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. This position will provide radiographic support, room setup support, and will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). Promotes quality patient care through the performance of diagnostic and interventional radiography utilizing appropriate technique, established protocols, physician direction and age specific guidelines. Must be able to maintain concentration and ability to stand during lengthy procedures which may include, general pain management, spinal stimulators, and/or post-procedural therapeutic measures.� May be assigned to other, general diagnostic radiographic or fluoroscopic duties as determined by supervisor.�Qualifications: 1. Education A. High School diploma or GED from an accredited program. Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. B. Associates in Applied Science-Radiology Technology Experience A. Minimum 3 years medical imaging experience Greater than 1-year cumulative experience in the OR, pain management and/or interventional radiography B. 2 years pain management experience in high volume pain suite performing varied pain management procedures PACS and RIS experience. ARRT Certification in Interventional Radiology Licenses A. ARRT (R) MRT- General Certificate BCLS certification B. Special Skills A. Ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition and transmission Demonstrated ability to function at a high level in OR/Interventional team environment B. Other A. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Must be able to effectively communicate with and take direction from physician(s) to facilitate room throughput and optimal physician and OR efficiency B. Essential Duties: 30% 1b. Provides imaging support to the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center to include utilization of portable radiographic equipment and C-arms according to policies, procedures and protocols of the KSC radiology department, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of radiographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting proper positioning. Understands age related communication needs of patients and is able to effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of radiographic studies.
