Job Summary / Responsibilities:

HDR is a growing organization made up of great people working together on projects solving our transit client’s greatest challenges. Be a part of our Rail and Transit System’s team, changing the way we connect our cities through electrification. HDR is seeking a talented, driven individual who is interested in Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) for rail electrification. This is a great opportunity to learn a niche industry under our senior engineers and work on challenging projects across North America. Here are some of the responsibilities associated with this position:

Collect, analyze, and interpret data.Perform design calculations based on provided data and specifications using templates.Learn and apply relevant codes and standards.Assist with the preparation of contract drawings, reports, calculations, and specifications.Coordinate with other engineering groups on multiple projects.Coordinate with CAD technicians to create, edit and publish design drawings.Assist with design and construction quantity take-offs and cost estimating.Serve as technical liaison with client and other team members.Work in a team environment and participate in group meetings.

Qualifications/Skills:

Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.Interest in transit and rail related projects; willingness to learn.Good intuition, problem-solving skills, and outside-the-box thinking.Ability to manage and prioritize tasks across multiple projects.Attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret technical language.Ability to work independently on tasks with support as needed.Ability to delegate and manage tasks for CAD technicians as needed for project deliverables.

Software Proficiencies (marked with are required):

Minimum Qualifications:

EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progressionEntry level position requires no previous knowledge of electrified railways.Must have a valid US driver’s license.

General Working Conditions:

This position is generally performed in an office environment. Employee must have the ability to stand/sit frequently and reach both horizontally/vertically as required. Light lifting (< 20lbs.) is required. Also, work may infrequently be performed at the transit client’s job site, construction trailer or right-of-way subject to train traffic. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and extensive walking on loose surfaces. Employee will be expected to obtain right-of-way railroad worker protection safety cards before accessing the client’s site. Adherence to HDR’s and the transit client’s safety protocols is required.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Colorado: $53,410.00 - $76,300.00
