Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,5000 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.

We have exciting opportunities for reliable Rail Car Repair Technician with our Mobile Repair Unit for Red Deer. This opportunity is perfect for someone with experience looking for a stable position in an organization that offers advancement.

Job Summary:

Principal duties in this position are car repairs including but not limited to:

Car repairs involving cutting and welding (SMAW) on the rail body, including tank and/or hopper, and other car componentsAir Arc GougingLight and medium-duty mechanical repairs to rail carsWorking at heightsRead, comprehend, and follow repair orders, procedures & blue printsOperate telehandler forkliftAdhere to health and safety standards, including Responsible Care PolicyPrimarily working outdoorsOther related duties as assigned

This role requires the successful candidate to work the schedule of Monday to Friday, 06:30am to 3:00 pm, some weekend OT coverage and on occasion, road work away from home on an as needed basis. Please be advised that the schedule may change as business needs dictate.

Requirements:

Valid driver’s license required and reliable transportation to get to and from workStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipmentMust be able to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work write-ups, and other paper and computer workPrior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an assetPerform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standardsAdhere to both customer site and Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe mannerMust be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noiseThe ability to work while wearing respiratory protectionWHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commoditiesMust be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumesConfined space entry to repair hopper car liningsDetail-oriented and committed to qualityExcellent time management skillsThe ability to work independently or within a teamDemonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all timeAll applicants are required to complete and pass our full medical testing upon hire.
