Railroad Track Maintenance Worker
*Summary/General Description Of Job\:

The Railroad Track Maintenance Worker repairs and maintains track for railroad equipment used in regular railroad service or in plant yards.

Essential Duties & Job Functions\:

§  Inspect track systems for deficiencies and or defects that will require repair and or maintenance.

§  Report all deficiencies and or defects to proper authority with recommended corrective action, and initiate action necessary to facilitate repairs and or maintenance.

§  Perform maintenance on track systems including, but not limited to; repairing gauge to specs, replacing railroad ties as necessary, driving spikes as required, lubricating switch points, and repairing/replacing gauge rods.

§  Tighten bolts, clean switches, shovel ballast around ties and tamp ballast under ties as necessary.

§  Perform all maintenance as required by FRA and NAVFAC MO-103.9 standards.

§  Use tools such as spike mauls, crowbars, pneumatic impact wrenches, shovels and all other necessary tools to maintain the integrity of track systems.

§  Performs other related duties as assigned.

                                     

May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment.  Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

•        The proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the railroad industry field.

•        Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

•        Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.

•        Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.

•        Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

•        Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.

•        Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.

•        Having the ability to work well under pressure.

•        Two years’ full-time experience in railroad track maintenance and inspection of railway systems.

•        Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of FRA guidelines with regard to track condition inspections/evaluation.

•        Ability to perform strenuous manual labor under adverse weather conditions. Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.

•        Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.

•        Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

•        Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.

•        Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

•        U.S. Citizenship.
