Summary This announcement is for multiple seasonal Range Aid positions for Montana Dakotas. Positions start in the 2025 season beginning April through June. This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Applicants will be referred monthly throughout the announcement period. See "Additional Information" for information. Responsibilities Under the supervision of higher-level technician or specialist conducts use supervision and documents observations. Assists higher-level technician or specialists in conducting range studies such as condition and trend, utilization, actual use, climatological and other pertinent studies. Learns routine and recurring weed management activities in accordance with all resource management plans, environmental assessments, cooperative agreements, safety plans, etc. under the direction of a higher-level technician or specialist. Trains to operate, maintain, and inventory weed management equipment (tools, monitoring/ mapping equipment, pesticide applicators, etc.). Utilizes specific computer programs to compile, reduce, store, and retrieve data and other range management information, including research and long-term monitoring projects. GS-2: You must possess three (3) months of general experience of any kind that demonstrates your ability to do the work of the position. -OR- Education: You must have successfully completed High School or equivalent. GS-3: You must possess six (6) months of general experience of any kind that demonstrates your ability to do the work of the position. -OR- Education: You must have successfully completed one academic year of post high school education (30 semester hours/45 quarter hours) that included at least 6 semester hours in a combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
