Your typical day – Our MDA analysts and engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone is located in Huntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as “Rocket City.” Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts – military, government civilians, and contractors from Axient and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems.

What you will do...

 

What are your specific duties? - The Range Safety Engineer will support the Missile Defense Agency Director for Test and Targets (DT). The candidate will provide assistance across the targets portfolio with flight termination system and range safety requirements development and verification, GFE and CFE hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout. The candidate will support failure investigations and review boards as necessary.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Serve as Range Safety expert on behalf of the Targets Program office during Flight tests, Range Safety Working Groups, and functionality testingProvide oversight of requirements development and allocation and verification for targets flight termination system products, including autonomous flight termination systems, and associated range safety Performance and/or oversight of GFE and CFE hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkoutProvide summary and detailed level reports as necessary to document status, findings, and recommendationsRepresent the interests of the customer in Working Groups, forums, and Technical Interchange MeetingsTravel as required to support oversight, meetings, reviews, etc. Skills you will need...

Required Skills and Experience:

Master’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experienceNote: Bachelor's degree with 20+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degreeActive DoD Secret security clearance, which requires US CitizenshipWorking knowledge of Range Safety RequirementsFamiliarity with flight safety analysis and analysis productsProficiency in Range Tracking Systems (inertial measurement, GPS, C-band tracking)Proficiency with RCC-319 Flight Termination Commonality Standard and RCC-324 Global Positioning and Inertial Measurements Range Safety Tracking Systems Commonality StandardMust be able to work in a dynamic environment and have the individual flexibility to work multiple actions simultaneously and resolve time sensitive issuesStrong communication skills to include oral, written and briefingProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointWorks independently and/or leads teams to analyze and resolve problems
