Rapid Case Ascertainment Developer
Employment Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF) Vacancy ID: NF0008855 Salary Range: Dependent on Education/Experience Position Summary/Description: The Rapid Case Ascertainment ( RCA ) Developer will maintain the existing Microsoft Access databases. Specifically, this position is responsible for responding to production issues in a timely manner, answering user questions, running reports as needed, and supporting the study databases. The other major responsibility for the developer is to evaluate new technologies and migrate RCA to a new technology stack. This will involve understanding the existing Visual Basic code and Access study databases and developing a brand-new web application with the necessary functionality. Once the new web application has been deployed, the RCA developer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting it. When new RCA studies come on board, the developer will gather requirements from the users and add any new features needed to support the study. This position is also responsible for providing training to the RCA staff on how to use the new application. Education and Experience: - Experience with Microsoft Access - Experience with Visual Basic Essential Skills: - Strong programming skills and at least 3 years of experience programming in web technologies such as JavaScript, CSS , HTML , and/or Python - Strong SQL programming skills - Knowledge of database design and experience creating tables, foreign keys, primary keys, views and stored procedures - Experience working through the entire software development life cycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance - Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot issues - Relational database experience in Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server AA/EEO Statement: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
