Position Summary
Applies advanced nursing knowledge, specialized expertise and experience to guide and support nurses and other clinicians caring for acutely ill patients at the bedside with a focus on assigned disease states.
Responsibilities
• Evaluates practice and helps to drive clinical changes for specific clinical scenarios, and ensures the use of best practices and evidence-based care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes
• Supports groups in designing and implementing innovative solutions that address system problems and patient care issues
• Assists teams in process improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes
• Educates and supports other clinical providers in the best practice management of assigned disease states
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program
• State of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho
• BSN required
• Minimum 1 year experience in Critical Care or Emergency required; 2 years’ preferred
• CEN or CCRN required within 6 months of hire
• ACLS Required
• BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
• NIHSS required within 6 months of hire
Working Conditions
• Must be able to maintain a standing position
• Typical equipment used in a clinical job
• Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
• Must be able to lift or move up to 35 lbs
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
• Must be able to assist in patient transfer
• Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
• Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
