Every year, Global Procurement (GP) procures more than €30 billion worth of products and services for BASF. Our procurement activities include nearly everything that’s needed for the BASF products: raw materials, technical goods and services, as well as logistic solutions. We collaborate with competitive suppliers who add value for BASF and our customers.
We are seeking a professional like you, with strong interpersonal skills, a desire to negotiate, and an ability to identify innovative ways of adding value for BASF. As a Buyer for the Tail-spend And Distribution (TAD) team, you will support the North American region to procure chemical raw materials. You will engage with the associated business units, category managers, and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities. You will routinely negotiate and explore creative solutions to optimize the reliable supply of raw materials to our production facilities throughout North America. In addition to the traditional tail-spend materials assigned to your portfolio, you will also support multiple projects and have category management responsibilities for multiple local and regional categories.
As a Raw Material Buyer - TAD, you create chemistry by...Supporting the development and implementation of TAD procurement strategies for the Americas while strategically managing multiple local and regional categories (Plan-to-Strategy & Source-to-Contract).Negotiating to ensure competitive pricing while minimizing risk.Supporting or leading various projects and initiatives.Leading the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for the assigned portfolio in alignment with category teams and business personnel.Providing relationship management for key suppliers, including monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and disputes, gathering market intelligence, and assessing supply availability and pricing factors.Engaging across the business by collaborating with all areas of BASF (Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Product Management, etc.).Running large digital tenders and embracing a data-driven approach to drive results.If you...
Have a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional experience. Have an educational and/or professional background in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, Sales and/or related fields.Can communicate effectively and persuasively with all levels of the organization and external suppliers.Are proficient in Excel. Having experience in SAP, COUPA, Power BI and/or electronic bidding platforms isn’t a necessity but is beneficial.Are results-oriented/driven and have strong analytical skills.Have a desire to negotiate. Prior negotiation experience is a plus.
