As the Product Support Lead, you will utilise your extensive expertise to champion and embed Product philosophies and techniques, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Reporting to the BDUK Support Engineering Manager, you will serve as a key technical authority, collaborating closely with other specialists within the department to drive excellence and innovation in RCM implementation.
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Support Engineer to Lead to oversee the implementation and integration of RCM methodologies across the organization. In this role, you will ensure that RCM strategies are aligned with industry best practices and comply with relevant regulatory standards. Reporting directly to the BDUK Support Engineering Manager, you will serve as the primary technical authority on RCM, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and standardize maintenance strategies that enhance the reliability, performance, and safety of our systems and assets.
You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement, fostering innovation in RCM techniques, and ensuring the successful adoption and execution of RCM practices throughout the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of RCM principles and a proven track record of leading and mentoring a team of engineers to implement effective RCM strategies. Only candidates with substantial experience in Reliability-Centered Maintenance and a strong history of RCM analysis and leadership will be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
RCM Analysis Leadership: Lead and mentor a multi-disciplined team of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) engineers in delivering contracted RCM analyses to meet pan-platform requirements. By the successful application of established RCM methodologies to assess system reliability, you will ensure compliance with project scope, and deliver high-quality results within agreed-upon timelines.RCM Capability Development: Drive the growth of BDUK’s RCM capabilities, ensuring ongoing development and refinement of engineering expertise in RCM principles and applications in line with future business needs.Change Management: Oversee the review and integration of change requests based on maintenance feedback, failure investigations, and reliability assessments, incorporating lessons learned to continuously improve processes.Standards Compliance: Ensure all RCM processes, proposed changes, and improvements align with industry standards and best practices.Customer Engagement: Collaborate with customers to understand their specific needs and offer expert guidance on the most effective application of RCM methodologies for asset reliability and performance.Progress Reporting: Provide detailed management reports on RCM project progress, performance indicators, and final project outcomes, ensuring clear communication of successes and areas for improvement.RCM Tool Integration: Oversee the accurate integration and updating of RCM tasks into relevant tools and systems, ensuring consistency and traceability of all RCM processes.Reliability Framework Enhancement: Continuously improve and strengthen the organization's reliability framework by applying a systematic, data-driven approach to RCM principles, ensuring long-term asset performance and reliability.Beyond your technical responsibilities, you may have the opportunity to contribute to broader company initiatives. Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary clearance.Subject Matter Expertise in RCM: Extensive knowledge and hands-on application experience in Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodologies, including RCM-2, MSG-3, or FMEA principles and practices.Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to act as an RCM SME, including teaching, mentoring, and developing junior engineers.Maintenance and Engineering Expertise: Strong professional background in maintenance and engineering, with proven experience in practical application.Desirable Skills qualification and experience :
Defence Industry Familiarity (Preferred): Experience in a defence-related environment is advantageous but not essential.Risk & Reliability Management: Comprehensive knowledge and application experience with risk and reliability management systems and techniques.Commitment to Quality: Proven track record of driving first-time quality in engineering outputs.Understanding of Risk & Opportunity Management: Familiarity with the principles and practical application of risk and opportunity management in engineering contexts.Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.Educational Qualifications: Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and/or formally trained in support engineering principles.Language Requirements:
