RCP Pulmonary Function Tech, Pulmonary Function Lab

Job Summary: The Pulmonary Function Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Pulmonary Function Lab. PFT duties include performing lung volumes/flows, diffusion studies, metabolic testing, stress testing, disability studies, and Provocation airway testing, ABG drawing and analysis. The RCP/PFT must provide care to various patient populations in all areas of the hospital and other CEHS sites. On-Call responsibilities are an important aspect of the position. The RCP/PFT serves in a lead role for other staff and students who perform in the PFT lab and/or who perform similar duties outside the PFT lab but within Cardiopulmonary Services. The RCP/PFT is expected to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with indirect, minimal supervision and must make many independent decisions.

Minimum Requirements: 

Licensure by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board required. Registered (RRT) by the NBRC.  Two years of experience performing duties in a Respiratory Care department and in a Pulmonary Function/ABG lab.  Certified/Registered as a Pulmonary Function Technologist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CPFT/RPFT) preferred.  Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and posses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.
