RDE PRODUCT OWNER

Weatherford is hiring a RDE Product Owner for our Spencer Road Research & Development facility in Houston, TX.

Weatherford is seeking a motivated and experienced Product Owner to join our expanding software engineering organization to develop industry leading software solutions for the energy industry. Our self-organizing teams employ Agile processes which foster high-performing software development environments. The successful candidate will represent the voice of the customer, build the roadmap, guide Agile teams, and manage and optimize the product backlog to deliver incremental product value. This position requires working with globally distributed team members.

Responsibilities:

Assist with defining product and technology roadmap based upon understanding of market and input from stakeholders, such as product line management, sales, support, and servicesAssist with requirements gathering, analysis, and definition to define features and functional requirements of the productTranslate high-level requirements into epics and user stories which can be estimated, prioritized, and executed by software engineeringInvestigate, analyze, understand, and articulate Weatherford operational processes and workflows into both high-level and detailed diagrams for consumption by software engineeringAssist with the definition and prioritization of enhancements, features, and bug fixesCoordinate backlog grooming sessions with Agile team and key stakeholders to manage product backlogDefine acceptance criteria for user storiesAttend and actively participate in Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, sprint review, etc.)Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather feedbackDemonstrate software to internal and external usersAssist with coordinating beta test activitiesAssist with reporting of project progressAssist with the creation and review of user manuals, release notes, and help documentation

Qualifications:

Essential

Degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Physics, Computer Science, or similarAt least 12 years’ oilfield experience or equivalent as a field engineer, technical sales engineer, or support engineerDeep understanding of drilling operations, well construction principles, and drilling automation technologiesFamiliarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to drilling operations and Managed Pressure DrillingStrong organizational and communication skillsCreativity, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skillsAbility to create, maintain, and prioritize product backlog for consumption by software engineering teamsAbility to work with service and support organizations to prioritize defect fixes to meet business needsAbility to assist Product Management team to formulate product roadmap and execute plans according to such roadmapGood interpersonal skills and ability to foster teamworkGood computer skills

Preferred

Previous experience as product owner or in project managementExperience in developing engineering software within the energy industryExperience in Agile software developmentExperience working with geographically distributed teams
