The role
As a Reactor Cleaner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary working in a safety critical role.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to undertake a wide range of tasks across site and will be prepared to undertake training to ensure they meet the requirements of the role.
Work with various cleaning chemicals IAW COSHH. Clean and decontaminate primary plant. Carry out fire sentry duties. Whole boat cleaning duties. Operate active hoover in accordance with RWOP
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This role involves shift work. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) within this role, OWP is currently in its pilot stage until 31st March 2024 and not guaranteed; it involves a 4-week shift cycle consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift.
Essential experience of the Reactor Cleaner:
It would be beneficial, but not essential as training can be provided if applicants have the following:
Previous experience working in a marine environment Knowledge of submarines and warships layouts Willingness to undertake development training as identified in a competency framework Ability to read and understand functional procedures Desirable to hold a UK drivers’ licence and be prepared to undertake MEWP training.
Qualifications for the Reactor Cleaner:
Extensive experience working in a Naval Base environment. HS0003 Hot Work Operators / Sentries HS0384 Practical Fire Training NUC1119 Entry to Radiological Area NUC1100 Active Jet Vac
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
