Sheppard Pratt School in Rockville is a nonpublic special education day school serving students ages 5-21 (grades K-12) with a range of needs including autism, development delay, emotional disability, multiple disabilities, other health impairments, specific learning disability, and speech or language impairments. What to expect.

You will provide reading intervention strategies that meet the unique needs of each student referred or identified as in need of such services.

Specific responsibilities include:

Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on students’ progress in reading intervention program. Collaborating with other members of the school to support student success. Assisting in providing ongoing literacy training for staff development, sharing best practices and evidence-based strategies.

What we need from you.

Master’s degree. Five years of related teaching experience, including student teaching and internships. Must have an MSDE Professional License or Advanced Professional License at time of appointment. Must have, or be willing to obtain within two years of start date, MSDE license as a Reading Specialist as outlined here. Must present verification of successful completion of 3 semester hours of State-approved CPD credits in special education coursework.
