Reagent Technician Senior - San Juan Capistrano, CA - Monday to Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

The Reagent Technician, Sr. is responsible for timely preparation of high-quality laboratory reagents for use in technical areas, as well as dispensing and mixing chemicals and controls.  Actively participates in research and development of new and existing reagents. Complies with established quality control procedures and assists with the monthly inventory and ensures that supplies are ordered on a timely basis.  The incumbent actively supports and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures. 

Pay Range: $26.10 - $43.05 / hour
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Prepares reagents for use in technical departments according to established procedures. Dispense and mix chemicals and controls for use in technical departments. Perform daily pH meter and balance calibration. Transports and exchanges compressed gas cylinders for use in the technical departments as directed. Assists with the maintenance of the department’s computer protocols and the placement of reagent orders. Ensures client orders are processed in a timely manner.  Answers client questions and/or refers clients to a competent authority. Complies fully with established quality control procedures. Ensures that chemicals, reagents and supplies are delivered to the technical departments on a timely basis, so that tests are not delayed. Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements. Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management. Performs other ancillary duties as assigned by a competent authority. Assist in the investigation and corrective of problems associated with reagents as directed and may require to work closely with laboratory personnel outside of immediate work area. Participate in research and development of new and existing reagents, as directed. Assists in training and development of new hires.

Physical and Mental Requirements: 

Long periods of standing  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use material handling equipment to move large containers of products. 

Knowledge:  

Basic theoretical and operational job knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks. Familiarity with laboratory apparatus and equipment. 

Skills:  

Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with Quest Diagnostics employees and clients. Attention to detail. Ability to follow procedures.
