Summary/Objective The receiving position verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Operates lift trucks, forklifts or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments, areas or off of trucks Unload trucks using a scanner or pick list generated by Supervisor/Manager Performs all computer functions necessary to complete job. Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Supports the received goods produced and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Competencies Communication Proficiency. Organizational Skills. Technical Capacity. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Travel Travel would be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day. Required Education and Experience Minimum of a high school education and one year of factory-related experience in shipping. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Licensed forklift truck operator. Preferred Education and Experience Manufacturing/industry experience. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
