Position summary

The Recombinant Proteins business is seeking a highly motivated Process Development Scientist to develop recombinant cytokine products for the life-science research and clinical market as a subject matter expert.

An ideal candidate will have prior experience in process development and manufacturing of cytokines, including recombinant protein expression in Escherichia coli (E. coli) or Cell Culture (mammalian, insect cells, etc.) and protein purification. The candidate will have prior experience working in GMP manufacturing and in research, developing and producing recombinant proteins to meet customer needs in life-science research. Product development from concept to commercialization is a desirable experience as well.

This position offers the chance to join our Process Development team. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and transferring downstream manufacturing processes, playing a vital role in equipping researchers with the tools to cure diseases that affect millions worldwide

A day in the Life:

You will drive process development activities to deliver validated and transferable processes for the purpose of product development to aid the production of recombinant proteins for research, clinical or commercial use.Focus on the recombinant protein R&D portfolio product development.Serve as process development representative on multiple programs, assisting in project planning and timeline development, and participating in process transfer.Synthesize knowledge of emerging technologies, customer, market and business needs into comprehensive view of Product DevelopmentWork closely with your Process Development team, Manufacturing Scientists and Product Management, and other cross functional business partners to build and update product roadmapsWork with regulatory and quality team to help guide and define testing parameters and, product design specifications.Design experiments, processes, analyze data and present data to internal partners and external customers as neededDocument protocols, observations, and analyzes data in an organized accurate laboratory notebook and databases where appropriate.

Keys to Success:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree Molecular or Cellular Biology or related field with 3+ years or Master’s degree with 2+ years experience in recombinant protein process development from E. coli or Cell Culture.Experience in refolding of recombinant proteins from Inclusion Bodies preferred.Fermentation experience a plusDrive Thermo Fisher’s continuous improvement methodology (Practical Process Improvement) to deliver on efficiency targets.Prior experience working within a GMP lab and manufacturing environment preferred.Fast learner with confirmed independence in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation
