**Work Schedule** Standard (Mon-Fri) **Environmental Conditions** Office **Job Description** **The Position** Single particle analysis is a group of related computerized image processing techniques used to analyze images from transmission electron microscopy. These methods were developed to improve and extend the information obtainable from TEM images of particulate samples, typically proteins or other large biological entities such as viruses. Such imaging were crucial _e.g._ , to the development of a Covid vaccine. We are looking for an intern with strong mathematics and physics skills to work in our team on the next generation of the imaging technology! **Key responsibilities** include, but are not exclusively: + Working in compliance with legislation and IMS _(required for all)_ + Participate as an intern in development projects within Thermo Fisher or with partners + The work will include: + Theoretical analysis and simulation in the area of electron matter interaction, diffraction and tomography + Assisting in the development of (sub)system designs within the area of expertise, in multidisciplinary teams focusing on protein imaging in atomic scale + Assisting in simulation, data-processing and software development as required + Reconstruction algorithm development and testing based on inhouse and 3rd party SW solutions + Communication and documentation of your own work through presentations and reports + Grow your technical knowledge in innovative principles and theories relevant to your area of expertise **Requirements:** + University student (bachelor’s or master’s) or doctoral candidate in physics or mathematics or computer science + General technical knowledge, understanding of applied physics, mathematics, and programming (in Python language) + Good command of English (or Norwegian 😊), both spoken and written + The ability for independent thinking and decision-making + Active and creative approach to problem-solving; willingness to continuously learn and share knowledge + Collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals, collaboration with a hybrid team: on-site + remote **Competencies:** + Creative “out of the box” solution finder + Problem solving and analysis + Deliver results + Clear and open communication + Can work independently Thermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
