About the Position: We are seeking motivated candidates for the position of Records Management Program Supervisor in the Maine State Archives. The Maine State Archives is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Records Management Program Supervisor. This leadership role is essential for overseeing and managing the State's Records Management Program and staff, ensuring compliance with state laws, and promoting best practices in records retention and preservation. As a member of the Maine State Archives, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the state’s records management program. You will work in a collaborative, dynamic environment with a dedicated team of professionals. This position will report to the Director of Records Management in Maine State Archives. Key Responsibilities: + Lead and supervise the Records Management division, managing a team of four staff members. + Work closely with state agencies to inventory records, create retention schedules, and design file plans to ensure proper management and storage. + Develop and maintain records retention schedules for state agencies in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. + Provide professional training, workshops, and informational resources to Records Officers, state employees, and other stakeholders. + Answer inquiries from state and local government employees regarding records management practices. + Conduct research and provide expertise on specific records topics, helping agencies and local governments with retention schedule information. + Promote a culture of effective and compliant records management throughout state agencies. + Identify opportunities for improvement in other agencies with regards to records management. Preferences will be given to candidates who have: + Proven experience in records management, including developing retention schedules, creating file plans, and implementing records management policies across various mediums. + Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage a team and collaborate with various state agencies. + Exceptional communication skills, including experience delivering training sessions and public speaking. + In-depth knowledge of records management principles, legal requirements, and best practices. + Ability to work independently and as part of a management team. Minimum Qualifications: Eight (8) years of education, training, and/or experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or developing improvements to organizational and/or managerial systems, programs, and practices.
