Give your career a lift! Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. (HYMH), a world-class manufacturer of industrial forklift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for developing and emerging students interested in records retention and information management at our Greenville, NC, location. 

What you will do:  

As a Records Retention Intern, you will work with a team and independently to support HYMH’s records management and compliance initiatives. You will assist with cataloging, data reconciliation, and records retention efforts to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. As a team member, you will participate in on-site and digital projects to enhance the company's records retention practices. You will be one of two records retention interns and will be responsible for one of the projects below. Project selection will be determined by the manager.  

Records Reconciliation Project (On-Site in Greenville, NC, and ABC Storage): 

Manually catalog contents of boxes sent to ABC Storage without records data captured. 

Upload records data to Global Records Manager (GRM) after review by Records Management Specialists (RMS). 

Work with Greenville and Berea Records and Archives Support Centers (RASCs) to determine record retention or disposal decisions. 

Ensure records disposition aligns with Letter of Certification requirements. 

Microfilm PDF Project (On-site in Greenville, NC) 

Catalog over 750+ PDF files, each containing 500-2,000 pages. 

Perform OCR-based data extraction and data cleansing, including truck serial numbers and sales order corrections. 

Conduct quality checks to ensure document legibility and preservation. 

Upload cleansed and validated data to GRM, creating "placeholder" documents to maintain data integrity. 

Additional Opportunities (Time Permitting): 

Assist in the SharePoint Legacy Sites Closure Project, reviewing orphaned SharePoint sites for potential record retention. 

Support the Data Mapping Project, identifying system of record applications and updating business owner information.

A strong communicator who can navigate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring accurate documentation and data preservation in a fast-paced environment. 

What you will need:  

Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Information Management, Business Administration, Library Science, or a related field. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

A willingness to learn and take initiative. 

Skills, Experience, & Abilities 

Experience with data entry and records management systems. 

Basic knowledge of cataloging and document control principles. 

Familiarity with OCR technology and data validation techniques. 

Demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership and initiative.
