Records Technician

**Description**
As a member of the Information Governance Department, the Records Technician assists in the maintenance of the Firm's client and business information to ensure the organization and integrity of the Firm's records and filing systems. This position requires knowledge of data-input techniques and information proofing techniques.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Process incoming information and documents using iManage Records Manager (iRM) records management system.
+ Track procedures for internal reference materials, which may include standards, technical reports, internally developed processes and procedures.
+ Validate integrity of accessioned records using established quality control procedures to verify completeness/thoroughness of the records (check creation date, originator, and file name to validate records’ content).
+ Confirm and verify data in the iRM according to established policies and procedures.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Records and Information Management (RIM) technologies to support deployment and training to end users.
+ Perform file maintenance tasks including the interfiling and applying of barcodes, and identifying labels to maintain the records and information repository integrity.
+ Follow established procedures to protect the integrity and authenticity of records.
**ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Use RIM applications for indexing, tracking and retention of information.
+ Recognize conflicting data prior to entry and analyze and evaluate data.
+ Respond to questions from end users or redirect to subject matter experts and communicate appropriately for the task verbally and in writing when necessary.
+ Demonstrate proficiency with deployed RIM technologies and apply barcode and other tracking identifications to folders, redwells and boxes.
**QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):**
**Education:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Some college, with specialized course work in administrative management and computer technology, preferred.
**Experience:**
+ At least 1 year of relevant experience in a professional services environment required.
+ 2-4 years of experience as a Records Clerk, or similar position, strongly preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:**
+ RIM technologies and schemas. Filing procedures and best practices.
+ Requires strong computer skills including working knowledge of desktop office software and demonstrated competency in proofreading.
+ Requires experience in operating office equipment such as reprographics equipment, calculators, and reader/printers. Experience with digital imaging scanners or microfilm cameras preferred.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
**VISUAL ACUITY**
Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
