Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, and at the direction of Administrative Managers, the RECOVERY+ Expansion Certified Peer Counselor, or “RECOVERY+ Expansion Peer” is responsible for assisting with the overall operation of the RECOVERY+ Program. Specifically, the Recovery Expansion Peer is an integral player in ensuring the smooth roll-out and operation of the RECOVERY+ Expansion project. Responsibilities include but are not limited to weekly travel to outlying Pathways offices, following up with client needs, assisting in addressing client barriers to treatment, providing peer support and peer counseling services, creating and maintaining a clinic schedule with medical providers, therapists, case managers, and other peers, and other administrative functions.The CPRS is responsible for an assigned shift, sometimes including nights and weekends, up to 8 hours per day, up to five days per week, subject to call back and overtime as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides client and family education, support, and care in gender-, spiritually-, economically- and culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, humble, kind, and competent waysFollows HIPAA guidelines and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and privacy at all times when dealing with client informationCoordinate daily with the RECOVERY+ home office while expanding services onsite at outlying Pathways outpatient locations to deliver services and close loops in conjunction with the R+ home office teamAssists in managing and maintaining provider schedules and client appointmentsAnswers phone quickly and respectfully, returning messages and meeting client scheduling and barrier needs promptlyProvides individual and group peer recovery servicesFacilitates services to clients in recovery to promote individual, program and system-level approaches that foster health and resilience, increase permanent housing, employment, and other necessary supports while reducing gaps in service and barriers to social inclusionAssists in facilitating urine drug screens, pregnancy tests, and other services as trained and directedFacilitates equitable services for recipients in person and via telehealth as neededProvides support to and appropriate referrals for clientsCompletes all appropriate documentation promptly with correct and appropriate tone, grammar, and syntaxCollaborates effectively with service recipients, outside agency personnel, family members, and internal agency personnel including but not limited to supervisors, therapists, physicians, nurses, and case managers to ensure continuity of careProvides reporting of work activity to Clinical Manager as requestedParticipates in staffing and supervision as scheduled, and displays evidence of the value of lifelong learning as related to best practices in client careParticipates in Quality Assurance & Improvement, Utilization Management, and other agency and system functionsOther activities or responsibilities as needed per supervisor or agencyJOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Certification from the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or eligibility to become certified at hireMust have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be granted driving privileges of company vehicles by West Tennessee HealthcareMust obtain and maintain certification in nonviolent crisis de-escalation and intervention within 90 days of hireAny additional certification or training as requested by Supervisor or AgencyEXPERIENCE:
Must be in recovery from substance use or co-occurring disorders for a minimum of two (2) yearsMust be a current or past recipient of substance use recovery or co-occurring recovery servicesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointExhibits capacity to learn and utilize electronic medical records and other online software programs quickly and effectivelyExhibits proficiency in peer recovery skills, especially in understanding appropriate boundaries with clients and with doing for clients rather than supporting clients do it for themselvesDemonstrates professional written, verbal, and nonverbal communicationDemonstrates ability to set priorities for tasks, to work effectively under minimal supervision, exceptionally organized, described by others as a self-starter, reliable, dependable, and motivatedDemonstrates eagerness and ease in learning and implementing new technologies, strategies, and behavioral interventionsDemonstrates an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), their potential effect on the health and well-being of individuals, and utilizes best practices to offer trauma-sensitive and trauma-informed careINTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to perform various physical demands of the job that help deliver services to program recipients and the agency. Physical demands include but are not limited to prolonged standing, sitting, walking, driving, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying objects, etc.Able to use Crisis De-escalation training to effectively de-escalate and safely restrain an individual if neededAble to work hours as designated by client need and provider availability when neededENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
