PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $27.40-$33.46 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.25-$39.57 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Loan Loss Recovery (LLR) Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in recovering funds for BECU, ensuring the credit union’s financial health while upholding its core values and policies. Your expertise will be essential in negotiating resolutions, ensuring compliance with laws, and driving innovative process improvements. You'll bring your problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to member service to recover outstanding debts, make informed decisions, and be a critical resource for escalating complex issues. Full-Time Schedule:
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM PST, Monday – Friday

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Negotiate settlements: Work directly with debtors, attorneys, and third parties to create win-win solutions for charged-off accounts.Stay compliant: Ensure you are well-versed in state and federal laws related to collections, so BECU remains compliant in all recovery efforts.Track and monitor accounts: Keep a close eye on pending accounts using the Collection System and ensure all updates are well-documented.Follow up diligently: Ensure timely follow-up on all legal and collection accounts to keep the recovery process moving.Locate debtors: Use skip-tracing techniques to locate debtors and initiate recovery conversations.Recommend improvements: Identify and recommend process improvements that will enhance Loan Loss Recovery.Stay lawful: Promptly follow through with Washington State and federal laws concerning collections, levies, liens, and records of all actions taken.Be an escalation point: Provide guidance and resolution when issues arise with Loan Loss Recovery collection matters.Document procedures: Ensure written procedures are documented and regularly updated for all areas of responsibility.Report impacts: Highlight any issues that could adversely affect recoveries or impact the Credit Union.Vendor coordination: Review vendor bills for accuracy and manage ongoing relationships with external collection agencies.Handle daily operations: Process new charged-off accounts, manage payments, returned mail, proofs of claim, and prepare necessary correspondence.Manage third-party collections: Work closely with collection agencies to forward accounts and ensure their actions align with BECU’s values.Update credit bureaus: Handle credit bureau updates, prepare reports, and assemble documentation for portfolio sales.Additional duties: Be flexible and ready to take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Business Administration, or equivalent work or educational experience required.Minimum 5 years of customer service experience, including 3 years in collections required. Previous experience with financial services products preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of the laws and regulations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act required. Certifications preferred.Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgement required.Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving required.Experience with legal collections preferred.Excellent verbal and written skills communication skills required.Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software required.Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to collections preferred.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well under deadlines.
