Recreation Assistant (Golf Professional)
Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Seasonal position Not-To-Exceed 31-OCT-2025. This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility. Responsibilities Performs over-the-counter selling of a variety of merchandise, which may include but is not limited to the following: jewelry, footwear, sunglasses, clothing, sporting goods, electronics, novelty gifts, and other miscellaneous items. Explains use of various products, answers questions concerning various aspects of products, and assists patrons in fitting apparel. Operates Point-of-Sale (POS) system, records sales, receives credit card, cash, and gift card payments for merchandise, greens fees, equipment rentals, and various services. Makes change and wraps or bags merchandise. Performs end of shift cash out, turns in all sales records, funds, checks, credit card slips, and settlement reports to supervisor. Replenishes stock as required and assists with inventories. Performs general housekeeping duties in sales and storage areas. Occasionally cleans rental clubs. Provides golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies, and procedures. Stays informed on and promotes all golf course activities and services. Assists in planning and budgeting for the golf instruction operations. Assists in managing golf tournaments and outings. Performs all other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible experience in cash handling or retail sales store work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers, and the ability to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Must be able to read, speak, and write English. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must have experience in teaching golf and running golf tournaments. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 National Security Check. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
