Summary About the position: This position is located at the Arts and Crafts Center at Yokota AB Japan. This is a Regular part-time position (guaranteed 20-24 hours per week). Responsibilities Assists assigned personnel in all areas of Arts and Crafts Center. Layout design and programs computer driven rotary/laser engraving equipment; engrave a variety of materials to include wood, acrylic, glass bottles, plastics, etc. Operates heat presses, saws, scanners and other computer related equipment. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists shop users with the engraving equipment and work procedures. Recommends materials, designs, lays out, takes orders and completes projects according to patron specifications. Ensures adequate stock of supplies is available to meet operational needs. Keeps abreast of industry trends and makes recommendations for new products. Greets and directs visitors, receives and routes incoming calls, and provides routine and general information to patrons. Assists customers with information with selection and purchase of merchandise, with an emphasis on customer courtesy. Performs cashier duties by selling over the counter a variety of art supplies, consignment items, and miscellaneous and related items and/or merchandise. May explain the use and answers questions concerning various aspects of the products. Checks merchandise for condition and operates a cash register to total sales. Receives payments, issuing change and receipts, bags or wraps merchandise, and completes related sales records. Completes related cash control forms at end of each shift and makes deposits. Prepares written sales documentation as appropriate. Prices merchandise according to pricing guides, replenish stock, and assists with inventory. Reviews sales items/merchandise to ensure proper appearance, properly marked, and are maintained in a neat and clean fashion. Perform generally light facility housekeeping duties in sales and storage areas. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have training or experience which provides knowledge of computer programs to operate engraving equipment. Experience in responsible clerical or office work which includes demonstrated ability to perform common arithmetic problems, and making change when receiving payments from customers. Must also have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items and use of cash accountability control methods. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English. Must have previous experience working with the public. Position is a position of trust and must be able to satisfactorily complete an installation and national records checks. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds. Must be able to satisfactory complete a physical examination. Graphic editing software experience is preferred. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required.
